We have casual and temporary work across all departments, from catering and cleaning to office work and research support, and working patterns that can fit around your studies and routines.

We recruit temporary workers throughout the year, and often need to fill vacancies quickly, so register today to ensure that you are included in our new talent pool.

From time to time opportunities will be available for motivated Aston students to become Aston Ambassadors and Student Guides for university open days. Throughout the year a wide range of sessions and activities are held. We need committed individuals to work as Ambassadors and Student Guides representing the university on campus for prospective students and parents at these events. These aim at better promoting Aston as a University of choice and dealing with any queries that they may have. The post- holders must be Aston University current students, in any year, and should be familiar with the university's facilities.

The recruitment process for Student Ambassadors will start in October 2014 but you are able to register and update your information on the Talent Pool at any time. Once you have registered your interest on the Talent Pool a shortlist will be drawn up of the interested students. Group interviews will be held for the shortlisted candidates. If you have been successful at interview, there will be compulsory training before work as an Ambassador can start.  You must attend the compulsory training session as without this you will not be able to become a Student Ambassador.  You may be involved in campus tours, school visits, parent’s questions and answer sessions, careers fairs, general administration, providing directions, helping reception and other ad hoc support as required.

For Student Guides the main Open Days take place on:

Saturday 18^th October 2014

You are able to register now onto this Talent Pool and may be contacted nearer the time of the open days. The recruitment process for student guides will be based on application form only.

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a positive approach are essential to this role. You must also be confident and be able to interact with prospective students, school children and parents in order to promote the various aspects of Aston University. Ideally you should have an interest in higher education and be passionate about Aston. The topics discussed at the open days may vary from benefits of higher education, life on campus, academic community, facilities, student societies (dependant on audience), the placement year and much much more!

From time to time there may be opportunities at Aston University for highly motivated second year undergraduate students to complete a placement year. The role may require candidates to provide efficient support to various departments within Aston University depending on your interest and degree programme.   

The placement roles involve a wide range of support tasks from basic filing, administrative and project support, to event coordination, lab work and more.

To register for this Talent Pool you must be currently studying in the second year of your degree and are interested in doing a full year assessed placement on campus during the third year of your degree. This placement will be an integral part of your degree.

You must be a responsible and committed individual with a positive attitude and the ability to work with a wide range of internal and external contacts at all levels.

Placements are full time Monday – Friday for a 10-12 month duration depending on the department.

From time to time the cleaning department has vacancies for short term casual positions. If you are interested to work as part of Aston's Cleaning Services Team then register onto this Talent Pool. We believe these posts will enhance and deliver an improved service throughout the University.

Cleaning duties will include: cleaning of the internal building: emptying of waste/recycling bins and reporting faults. It may also involve working outside litter picking and keeping the external campus tidy.

Communication skills are essential in order to understand and comply with health and safety requirements as well as completing the required paperwork. Successful candidates must have the ability to work as part of the team or individually. Experience in using industrial cleaning equipment and materials would be an advantage, however training will be provided to all staff permanent and temporary staff.

Hours will vary for each role and may include weekends
